5. The Utica Redskin Baseball Team wrapped up the
Mid-Buckeye Conference Championship with a 7-5 win over
Fredericktown Thursday in Utica.
Justin Wohlford went four-for-four with a two-run home run,
double and two singles to lead Utica (18-5, 12-2). Click

Knox (9-11, 6-8) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh
- two on a Dustin Stainer home run to edge Utica (17-5, 11-2)
Tuesday, in Howard. Utica starter Bobby Phillips had
the Bulldogs in command for most of the game until sixth.
Dustin Baker's RBI single cut the Redskin lead to 5-4 and
then Stainer's two-run homer proved to be the game winner.

fifth to secure the win against visiting Danville (6-12, 2-10).
The Redskins scored two runs in the inning on Nick

proved to be the winning run in executing a double steal
with Joseph.

innings and pounded out 20 hits in defeating Loudonville (3-3,
2-1) in an MBC clash in Loudonville on Friday. Dan Wheeler
and Justin Wohlford accounted for nine of the Redskin runs.
Wheeler cracked two home runs -- a grand slam in the third inning
and a two-run job in the seventh; and Wohlford hit a three-run
homer in the fifth inning to help power Utica to the win.

Utica (3-2, 2-0) scored four times in the fourth inning
to make it a 7-4 ballgame but the Stallions broke it open with
their six-run sixth. Utica starter Bobby Phillips (0-1)
took the loss pitching into the sixth inning before he was relieved

over host Johnstown (2-3, 0-1) in the Mid- Buckeye Conference
opener for both teams. Utica starter Rob French (1-1) pitched
for five and a third innings and picked up the win allowing

Utica (1-1, 0-0) exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning
to shut out Licking Valley (0-2, 0-0) 10-0 Wednesday in Hanover.
Bobby Phillips’ run-scoring single in the third and Josh Whisner’s
two-run homer in the fourth set the stage for the fifth inning
fireworks. Utica sent thirteen batters to the plate in the fifth.
Phillips started the inning with a solo home run; Whisner stroked
an RBI single; Cory Morrison smacked an RBI double; Joe McGuire
and Dan Wheeler stroked RBI singles and Justin Wohlford cracked
a two-run single to cap the scoring. Click

Utica (0-1, 0-0) scored two runs in the first inning on Dan
Wheeler''s homer but Mt. Vernon (1-0, 0-0) scored fourteen unanswered
runs in the home half of the next four innings to run-rule Utica
in five innings. Utica starter Rob French took the loss allowing
seven runs in two innings he walked four. French allowed only
one earned run as the Redskins committed four errors on the
day. Wheeler had two hits including his homer, Charlie Rowley
had two singles and Justin Wohlford smacked a double. Click
