Utica Beats Danville 7-3 to Remain
Undefeated in the MBC
Dan Wheeler's
four hits, including two home runs, sparked Utica (10-2, 6-0) to a 7-3 win over
host Danville ( 3-7, 1-5). Wheeler's first homer was a two-run shot
in Utica's four-run fourth inning. His second was a solo shot in the sixth and
his fifth of the season. The Redskins had 12 hits in the
game. Joe McGuire had an RBI double and single; Josh Whisner had
two singles and an RBI; Justin Wohlford had two singles and Shane Conners
had a double.
Utica starter Rob French (3-1) picked up the complete game
mound win. He limited the Blue Devils to three hits, one being a solo
home run by Lance Smith, until the seventh inning when Danville scored two more
runs on a walk, a Robbie Hawkins single and a two-run double by Nick Miller.
French struck out seven and walked three. Danville starter Miller took
