Utica Pounds Loudonville 18-5

Utica  (5-2, 3-0) scored thirteen times in the last three innings and pounded out 20 hits in defeating Loudonville (3-3, 2-1) in an MBC clash in Loudonville on Friday.  Dan Wheeler and Justin Wohlford accounted for nine of the Redskin runs.   Wheeler cracked two home runs -- a grand slam in the third inning and a two-run job in the seventh; and Wohlford hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to help power Utica to the win.

Wohlford ended up with three hits in the game as did Charlie Rowley for Utica.  Five other Utica batters had multiple hits.  Joe McGuire had a double and single for one RBI;  Bobby Phillips had two singles and 2 RBI; Shane Conners had a double and single; Josh Whisner had two singles for one RBI and Carter Rowley had two singles and an RBI. Nick Joseph had an RBI single.

Utica starter Rob French (2-1) picked up the mound win. French pitched into the sixth inning and was relieved by McGuire.   French gave up five runs (three earned), four hits and struck out six.  

Loudonville starting pitcher Trevor Scott took the loss.   Logan Scott had an RBI double for Redbirds. – Report by Lynn Fawcett
