Utica Defeats Heath 15-4 in Six Innings

Utica  (4-2, 2-0) scored seven runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the sixth inning to mercy the Heath Bulldogs (1-5, 0-2) in six innings on Thursday.  Utica starter, Nick Joseph was relieved by Freshman Shane McGuire (1-0) in the third inning. McGuire picked up the mound win allowing only one earned run in four innings of work.   Heath starter Brandon Schumacher took the loss for the Bulldogs.

The Utica bats were quiet through the first three innings and then exploded for 14 hits the last three frames. Six Redskins had two hits a piece.  Charlie Rowley, Bobby Phillips, Justin Wohlford, Joseph, Josh Whisner and Carter Rowley had two hits each. Joseph's included a double.  Joe McGuire, Dan Wheeler and Whisner had two RBI each.  Charlie Rowley, Bobby Phillips, Shane Conners and Carter Rowley each had an RBI.

Heath's Brandon Shannon had three hits including a double; Kyle Godsell had an RBI double and Greg Strausz had a double for the Bulldogs. – Report by Lynn Fawcett
